Chapter 529 Falling Into A Trap
“Bancheng, are you saying that they hid the man here? But…” It was evident that Su Shaoqing did not believe what he said. He turned around and looked at Fu Chengyan, who was staring at the villa quietly as his eyes glinted shrewdly. It seemed like he was thinking about something. “Chengyan?”
Pursing his lips, Fu Chengyan turned around to look at Su Bancheng. “I didn’t bring many people with me here. Do you have enough people with you?” At that moment, he looked extremely calm.
Su Bancheng curled his lips into a smirk. “How can this benefit me?”
Fu Chengyan narrowed his eyes. “What benefits do you want, Mr. Jiang?” He asked his question calmly, so no one could tell whether he was angry. Moreover, he did not look like a man whose wife had been kidnapped.
A smile appeared on Su Bancheng’s face. The corners of his long, narrow eyes crinkled as he stated, “I haven’t thought about it yet. You can just put it on your tab first, Mr. Fu. We’ll settle it later.”
“Jiang Shizheng,” Fu Chengyan said out of the blue. Upon hearing that, Su Bancheng froze. He narrowed his eyes and looked at Fu Chengyan, the smile on his face disappearing gradually. “What are you trying to say, Mr. Fu?”
“Mr. Jiang, does your grandpa have a younger brother?”
Su Bancheng’s smile stiffened. A moment later, he let out a chuckle. “Mr. Fu, I’m glad we’re not enemies.”
“Of course!” Fu Chengyan grinned. “Considering our relationship, you’re supposed to be my brother-in-law, right?”
Su Bancheng twitched his mouth, saying nothing.
Meanwhile, Su Shaoqing was dumbfounded. Initially, he was wearing a solemn expression as he was thinking about how they should save Shi Nuan. However, as soon as he heard the conversation between Fu Chengyan and Su Bancheng, he was stunned. I can’t seem to understand what they are saying.
“You guys… Wait a minute. Why are you calling my brother your brother-in-law? Am I not your only brother-in-law here?” he asked. Although Su Bancheng is related to the Su family, he belongs to the Jiang family. So, his connection to Shi Nuan is…
“Wait. Jiang Shizheng? Bancheng, your grandpa’s name is Jiang Shilin, right?” Su Shaoqing was smart. Immediately, he recalled everything, so he slapped his leg and said, “No wonder Shi Nuan’s grandpa felt so familiar when I met him! I didn’t know you guys were related.”
Having said that, he turned around and looked at Su Bancheng. Su Bancheng slightly pursed his lips, saying, “I’ll help you with Shi Nuan’s matter, but I want to take over the Aureate Jade project!”
“No problem!”
With that, the two reached a mutual understanding.
Instantly, Su Bancheng sent someone to monitor the situation around the villa. Meanwhile, Fu Chengyan and Su Shaoqing started preparing the equipment together. As they turned their heads around, they noticed that Su Bancheng was staring at the screen in a daze.
“Have you found anything?”
“Mr. Fu, do you know you’ve fallen into their trap?” Su Bancheng turned off the computer and looked at Fu Chengyan. As expected, Fu Chengyan remained unruffled.
“What do you mean?” Su Shaoqing asked, unable to comprehend what riddles they were talking about this time.
Su Bancheng glanced at Su Shaoqing as if he was staring at an idiot. The next second, he shifted his eyes back onto Fu Chengyan. “You already knew that Shi Nuan is not their target?”
Fu Chengyan nodded. “Since he wants to play some tricks, I shall play along with him!”
Hearing that, Su Bancheng broke into laughter. “Then, why did you ask me to come here?”
Fu Chengyan replied calmly, “Just in case.” After all, he did not like to do something he was not confident of succeeding in, even if there was only a slim chance of failing.
He had guessed that Shi Nuan was not his opponent’s target, so they would never do anything to her. Nevertheless, since Shi Nuan was with them, he could not act rashly.
The past two days were the most unbearable days Fu Chengyan had ever experienced. Unfortunately, he had to try his best to keep his composure. Otherwise, his opponent might take the opportunity to take advantage of him.
He knew those people would not hurt Shi Nuan. Hence, he slowed down his pace on purpose to find out what they were planning to do.
After a brief altercation with them, Fu Chengyan was now certain of their purpose. They kidnapped Shi Nuan in an attempt to take control of him. Once he started panicking, they would then make their next move.
If Fu Chengyan’s guess was correct, it was very likely that something big would happen within Shengyuan Group in the next few days.
As he had expected, before he even did anything to save Shi Nuan, he received some news from Zhou Zheng. “Mr. Fu, someone purposely sold Shengyuan Group’s shares at a low price just now. Also, there’s an issue in the capital.”
Fu Chengyan narrowed his eyes. “What is it?”
“Someone attacked Shengyuan Group’s firewall a few times, but they don’t seem to intend to succeed. They stopped doing anything after that.”
“I got it.” Fu Chengyan hung up the call. He could not help but roll his eyes, which initially looked emotionless.
Not long after, he received another call from Pei Jingxiu. “It seems like your opponent is determined to destroy your family this time. Not only did they attack Shengyuan Group, but they also did something to the systems of Prosperous Dynasty and our cinemas!” Despite the news he was bringing, there were no traces of anxiety in Pei Jingxiu’s voice.
“I see. I don’t think he will stir up any commotion for the time being. I’ll leave everything in Jiang City to you for now.” After ending the call, Fu Chengyan asked, “How are things going on at the villa? How many people do they have?”
“Around forty to fifty of them. It seems like all of them know how to fight. I’m just not sure how skillful they are. How many people have you brought?” As he spoke, Su Bancheng kept his phone. His subordinates had reported that the opponent at the villa was not letting their guard down. Many guards were circling the compound, and almost every corner of the villa was guarded. Although they were merely using Shi Nuan as a decoy, it was undeniable that they were powerful.
Fu Chengyan glanced at Su Bancheng before looking at Su Shaoqing. “Four!” he answered.
Su Bancheng’s eyes twitched. “You’re going up against fifty men with four people? Do you want me to call more people here?”
“There’s no need for that!” Su Shaoqing spoke up. “Just ask them to stall those people for us. By the way, can your men hack their system?”
Su Bancheng shook his head. “They don’t have any communication devices in the villa. Not even a phone cable.” Therefore, there was no way they could find out the situation inside.
Fu Chengyan knitted his brows. “Lend me two of your men.”
Then, he opened up the map Su Bancheng had given him. After browsing through the paper, he pointed at a few locations. “Shaoqing, bring two men to this spot. Mr. Jiang, please bring two men here. As for me, I’ll go to this area. Can we do this in five minutes?”
Su Shaoqing lifted a brow while looking at Su Bancheng. “I can, but I don’t know if Bancheng can make it in time.”
“Of course, I can!” Su Bancheng retracted his gaze. Smiling, he reached out a hand to pat Su Shaoqing’s shoulder. “Are you looking down on me?”
Meanwhile, Shi Nuan had been in the villa for a whole day. After she woke up this day, the old woman signaled to her that she had brought some food. As usual, she did not say anything to Shi Nuan.
Shi Nuan knew she should not sit there and wait for something to happen. She had to find a way out, but she had no idea where she was at the moment.
The day before, she had taken the opportunity to observe her surroundings while the old woman was not paying attention to her. The only thing Shi Nuan figured out was that she was in a remote and wealthy residential area. However, she did not see any electronic devices, landlines, and network cables in the villa. Therefore, she could not contact anyone to save her.
Fortunately, the old woman did not lock the room this day. Shi Nuan spent a long time observing the situation outside through the window, so she could tell that all the guards were capable and well-trained. Nevertheless, she noticed that there was a pattern in their patrol. They would take turns to patrol the villa every fifteen minutes. Hence, even if she managed to escape from the house, she would have to find a way to hide from them. In that case, she did not have much time left now.
Shi Nuan glanced around the room. There was nothing except for some furniture.
Currently, she was on the second floor of the villa. When she saw the bedsheet on the bed, she recalled the tiny window she had seen while taking her shower in the bathroom. I wonder if that window can be opened.
In an instant, she ran to the bathroom and opened the window with all her strength. To her surprise, she managed to open it. Cautiously, she glanced out of the window. The second floor was not very high from the ground. As long as she tied the bedsheet tightly later, she should be able to escape.
For now, she only had to wait for the guards to change their posts. No one would probably notice her if she climbed out the window during that time.
At that thought, Shi Nuan strode back to the bedroom swiftly. She used all of her strength to rip the bedsheet, but it was harder than she thought.
There were no scissors in the room. Left with no choice, she fixated her gaze on the bowl she had used for breakfast that morning.
Picking up the bowl, she ran into the bathroom and closed the door and window to avoid noises from escaping. Afterward, she smashed the bowl hard.
She quickly picked up a shard to cut the bedsheet. Unfortunately, danger was fast approaching.
Right then, the old woman was waiting for Mr. J’s order downstairs when she heard a noise coming from upstairs. Although it was not loud, she still heard it.
Soon, she received a call from Mr. J. “It’s time for action. Leave the area as soon as you’re done!”
Although his order was short, the old woman understood what he was saying. She picked up a syringe from the first-aid kit and headed upstairs quickly.
As Shi Nuan cut the bedsheet, she turned around from time to time to look at the door She tried to speed up her action, but the shard was not sharp enough. It took her a lot of effort just to make a hole in the bedsheet. Just as she was about to rip it open, someone opened the bedroom door. The old woman walked inside the room, staring at her with a cold, terrifying gaze. “What are you doing?”
Shi Nuan tightened her grip on the shard and hid her hands behind her. “What could I be doing? I’m the one who should ask you the question! Why are you guys locking me in here? Where is your boss? I want to see him.”
To calm herself down, she mustered up her courage to yell at the old woman. Moreover, she did not want the latter to notice her nervousness.
However, the old woman’s gaze fell upon the bloodstain on the corner of the bedsheet, and she immediately realized what Shi Nuan was doing.
Her eyes turned sinister as she questioned, “You’re trying to escape, aren’t you?”
“No!”
“Then, what is this?” The old woman pointed at the corner of the bedsheet. Shi Nuan’s heart dropped as soon as she looked down. Before Shi Nuan could regain her senses, the old woman approached her. She moved so fast that Shi Nuan could not even react in time.
The next moment, Shi Nuan felt a sharp pain in her shoulder. The old woman had stabbed her with the syringe.
“Hey! What are you doing?”
