Although she felt touched and relieved by his words, she could sense that there was something amiss.
For some reason, he looked unhappy.
Soon after, he carried her into the bedroom and placed her on the bed. He then seemed to vent his anger by biting the softest part of her body.
Skylar yelped in pain, but it was as if he did not hear it. Instead, he simply unbuckled his belt with one hand.
After managing to struggle free, she asked him what he wanted to do.
He replied that he wanted to do something a couple would do. Since he had to remain hidden in public, he should at least be able to do as he wishes at home.
She did not reply that night, and the matter continued to brew on the internet. After all, she was waiting for instructions from the public relations team.
Meanwhile, Kate worked through the night with the PR team to discuss on ways to come up with a perfect explanation.
As long as the matter was not handled well, Skylar would be labeled as a liar forever. Furthermore, her phone was about to be blown up by the media, who were seeking to verify who the mysterious man was.
Was it like what the internet said that he was Skylar’s boyfriend from before she debuted? The one who kept spending her money and relying on her, basically being a kept man?
Amelia arrived at Royal Entertainment early in the morning the next day. Her hair was pulled into a neat ponytail, and she was wearing a brown suit that complimented her figure.
As soon as Kate saw her, she pinched the bridge of her nose and asked, “Why are you here? Don’t you have a shoot today?”
Instead, Amelia took out a paper bag and replied, “Kate, you definitely didn’t rest well. I especially got up early to buy this quiche for you. Skylar’s also a little too irresponsible. The company’s favoring her so much, but she’s still so reckless. She caused the problem, but so many people are cleaning up after her. I didn’t sleep well last night because I was feeling sorry for you, that you had to worry so much for us.”
Also angry, Kate said, “What else can I do? What has happened has happened. At least you’ll save me from worry and not cause such a scandal. Skylar’s young after all and can’t stay calm. She can’t bear any burdens. She just got popular but had gotten herself into such a web of mess. It’s disregarding our good intentions and actions.”
Amelia then smiled modestly and replied, “Don’t say that. How can I compare to Skylar? Things have been going so smoothly for her since she debuted. She’s already been named a young talent. I just don’t know how much of an impact this issue will have on her. Will Pretty Detective be affected by this?”
Kate glanced at her with a meaningful look. “I don’t think so. The director pointed her out to go for the audition.”
In a worried tone, Amelia replied, “But Skylar doesn’t really have experience, after all. These types of shows are usually released during the new year. Hence, I don’t know if something like this will happen again during the filming period, up until the day it’s released. I don’t mean anything else, though. I’m just a little worried. After all, I’m also from Royal Entertainment and have to go through this with the company.”
At that moment, Kate’s mind was a mess. Amelia’s words did make some sense. Although Skylar was popular then, there were still many unpredictable parts in her life.
No company would like such a disobedient artiste.
The contract wrote that the artiste could not announce their relationship without approval.
Due to such a domineering clause, the company had broken up countless couples. Some had even been dating since they were in school but were forced to break up once they were signed to the company.
Among those artistes, there were not many whose relationships could withstand reality.
Acting like a couple to gain popularity, however, was different from dating.
Yet, no one dared to break Skylar up from her boyfriend. After all, even Royal Entertainment belonged to him.
