“Did I kill the telepathic beasts?”
Hadad stared at the scattered carcasses of the telepathic beasts, completely bewildered. “I didn’t kill these telepathic beasts. I’ve been cultivating in the cave all this time, never once leaving. How could I have possibly killed these beasts? Besides, if I were to kill so many telepathic beasts, wouldn’t it attract the attention of the Spirit Beast Valley? Where would I find the peace to cultivate then?”
Jared observed Hadad’s expression. Upon learning that he had been cultivating, he released a strand of aura into the arcane array that connected to the Spirit Beast Valley.
Due to the faint aura, no one had noticed it. However, the telepathic beasts, highly sensitive to such auras, had been drawn to the Phantom Valley.
The overwhelming lethal intent in the Phantom Valley had proven too much for the telepathic beasts to bear, causing them to die one after another.
“It seems that your actions were unintentional. However, with so many telepathic beasts dead in the Spirit Beast Valley, they will surely investigate,” Jared exclaimed.
“You mustn’t allow anyone from the Spirit Beast Valley to enter. They will disrupt my peaceful cultivation. I am currently in a crucial phase of rapid recovery and cannot afford any interruptions. Moreover, if I were to leave this place, I wouldn’t find such a strong presence of lethal intent elsewhere.”
Hadad didn’t want to leave, so he had to rely on Jared to find a way to prevent the people from the Spirit Beast Valley from investigating.
“Let me come up with a solution. When the time comes, I’ll simply make up an excuse.”
As Jared spoke, he retrieved a timepiece from his Storage Ring. “Mr. Hadad, do you recognize this object? Do you know how to use it?”
Hadad took the timepiece, glanced at it, and asked with a hint of surprise in his eyes, “Where did you get this?”
“I purchased it from a middle-aged man.”
“This is a time magical item. However, this device seems to be damaged. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have turned into something resembling a stone. If you wish to use this type of time magical item, you need to comprehend the essence of time itself.”
“The essence of time?” Jared was taken aback.
Hadad remained silent. Instead, he held the timepiece in one hand, and suddenly, a ray of light emanated from his palm.
Following that, the timepiece also began to emit a glow. The hands of the timepiece, which had remained still, suddenly moved.
In just a fleeting moment, the timepiece transformed back into a stone.
Jared’s face was filled with shock. He was about to speak to Hadad when he realized that Hadad had somehow already reached the halfway point of the mountain cave entrance.
Jared leaped in front of Hadad.
“Mr. Hadad, can you actually teleport? How did you get here in an instant?” Jared asked in great surprise.
“With my current strength, it’s absurd to think that I can teleport. What I just did was simply activate this time magical item. What you perceived as an instant, in reality, a significant amount of time has already passed.”
Hadad gave a faint smile, then picked up a stone and threw it down the mountain. The stone fell vertically, its speed incredibly fast.
However, as the timepiece in Hadad’s hand turned, Jared noticed that the speed at which the stone was falling had unexpectedly slowed down. It descended very slowly, reminiscent of gently falling snowflakes.
But it was only a matter of an instant. After the timepiece stopped moving again, the stone crashed onto the ground with great force.
“What did you see?” Hadad asked.
“It was as if time had slowed down. Even the stone had slowed down,” Jared exclaimed in surprise.
“This is the power of a time magical item. However, the magical item is now damaged, and I suspect it won’t last much longer. But once you have grasped the essence of time and truly mastered time spells, you will no longer rely on time magical items. Furthermore, this magical item was previously utilized by Whalreth. The moment I activated it, I could perceive his aura.”a
