Chapter 576 Huo Ling And Yun Shen
Yun Shen controlled his expression and smiled. “Jing, you’re right. It has been a couple of days since we got an update on Ms. Shen. Perhaps she is already dead by now.”
The atmosphere became tense after Yun Shen said that. Yun Shen could feel the chilly aura from the man standing next to him. It was rare for Yun Jing to get angry. Even though Yun Jing did not show his anger through his expression, Yun Shen could tell that Shen Qianan must be someone important to Yun Jing.
Touching his chin, Yun Shen snorted after Yun Jing walked away. He then returned to his room.
Right after returning to his room, Yun Shen got an update from Fu Chengyan that they had to temporarily hold back the decision to buy Yun Group’s shares.
Yun Shen placed away his phone and stroked his chin again. From his room, he could see the artificial mountain in the back garden of the Yun residence.
Despite living in the Yun residence for more than ten years, he never knew there was such a dark corner in the Yun residence. However, on second thought, Yun Shen sneered again. Ever since he witnessed the scene of that person with his mother more than ten years ago, Yun Shen suddenly felt like nothing was impossible to happen in the Yun residence.
Withdrawing his gaze, Yun Shen picked up his phone again and texted Fu Chengyan: Yun Jing is back, and he was testing me just now. After sending this text, he soon got a reply from Fu Chengyan: Let’s stay put for now.
Yun Shen curled his lips and placed his phone away as he gazed indifferently at the scenery downstairs.
Su Shaoqing had pleaded more than ten times to discharge Shi Nuan, and his reasons were the same. This had interfered with his work.
It was not Fu Chengyan’s intention to keep Shi Nuan at the hospital forever. However, with Shi Nuan’s pregnant belly getting bigger with time, he could never allow anything terrible to happen to Shi Nuan during this period.
Fu Chengyan could never forgive himself when Shi Nuan was kidnapped and injected with some virus before this. Hence, he refused to let something similar happen to Shi Nuan again, and he would not even allow the possibility of this to occur to her.
Besides, the hospital had almost every piece of equipment required to treat Shi Nuan if she felt unwell. Most importantly, Fu Chengyan believed Shi Nuan needed time to rest and recover away from the Fu residence and Su residence, as there were too many people to distract her from her recovery.
Fu Chengyan did not tell anyone about the reasons he had in mind. He did not want anyone to disrupt his alone time with Shi Nuan.
Su Shaoqing’s words were reasonable too. Moreover, he was also trying to test Fu Sijue’s limits.
After getting Shi Nuan to sleep, Fu Chengyan went to Su Shaoqing’s office. Li Heng, Pei Jingxiu, and even Yun Shen were there too.
Yun Shen might appear carefree and laid-back, but he was still a man of principle. He would honor the contracts since he had agreed to work with Fu Chengyan. That was not the only reason, as Yun Shen was also curious to know how Shen Qianan was doing.
After all, something terrible did happen to Shen Qianan in the Yun residence, and he was the one who saved her. Therefore, it was not only Yun Jing but Jiang Jingyun and Yun Hao also told Yun Shen to check on Shen Qianan since he was the one who saved her.
That was how Yun Shen ended up being in the office. As soon as he arrived, he stumbled upon them discussing the solution to plot against his brother.
Yun Shen stroked his chin. “Guys, aren’t you worried I’ll tell him about your plans? I am, after all, part of the Yun family.”
Fu Chengyan glanced at him and ignored his words. Instead, he opened up the map and pointed at several marks as he said, “This time, I plan to return to the Wutong Residence, and I must pass through these places to get there. These spots are the easiest for them to ambush me.”
He looked at Pei Jingxiu and asked, “Mr. Pei, can your men cover these places?”
Pei Jingxiu did not seem to be in a great condition. Upon hearing that, he glanced up at Fu Chengyan and then looked at the marked points on the map before nodding. “They can.”
“What about these places? Li Heng, can I leave them to you?”
Li Heng nodded. “Are you serious about returning to the Wutong Residence? Isn’t it safer for you to go to the Fu residence instead?”
“Wait a second. Why do you guys sound so certain that they will make a move tomorrow?” Yun Shen could not help but interrupt their discussion.
Fu Chengyan smirked. “We don’t know that.”
Yun Shen scoffed. “Do you think you can fool me with that?”
Fu Chengyan was someone who would not do something he was not confident in doing. If he had made these arrangements, he must have had his reasons. It was just that Yun Shen had yet to figure out Fu Chengyan’s reasons. “You seem to understand my brother better than I do.”
“After all, this is his last chance,” said Fu Chengyan calmly. “If I did not guess wrong, he will come up with a plan to take Shen Qianan away tomorrow.”
Yun Shen cocked a brow. “That makes my brother sound like he’s gone head-over-heels for her.”
After saying that, Yun Shen remained silent. It seemed like Fu Chengyan’s explanation convinced him. “What do I need to do?”
“Tell them that Shen Qianan is perfectly fine, but she hates the person who abducted her to the core. We must make him feel like Shen Qianan believed he was the one who harmed her.”
Yun Shen was slightly taken aback, but he still nodded. “Okay. I’ll go take a look at my future sister-in-law and see how she’s doing then.”
He then walked out of the office, but he bumped into Huo Ling right after. He whistled at her with a suggestive look as he asked, “Hey there, gorgeous. Do you remember me?”
Huo Ling scoffed when she saw Yun Shen. Her tone was filled with nothing but disdain as she said, “Get out of my way!”
“Oh!” Yun Shen found her fierce temper adorable. He was even more in the mood to tease her when he saw her staring at him with a disdainful expression.
This was because other women would never look at him the way Huo Ling did.
Yun Shen reached out his hand and blocked Huo Ling’s path. “Young lady, how old are you? You seem underage to me!”
“How dare you still flirt with me when you know I’m a minor? What a pervert!” Huo Ling gritted her teeth. She noticed Yun Shen’s gaze was fixated on her chest, and he even clicked his tongue. Huo Ling immediately covered her chest with her hands. “Where are you looking? Pervert!”
Yun Shen took in her adorable reaction. “Does it make a difference? It’s so flat that I can barely see anything.”
Immediately, Yun Shen could feel a strong gust of wind coming toward him. He was quick enough to catch Huo Ling’s wrist before her palm landed on his face.
The skin on her thin hand was soft and supple. Yun Shen could not help but shiver a little at that touch. It did not take long to hear Huo Ling cursing him out, “What the hell did you just say? Flat? You pervert!” She clenched her fist furiously. “Let go of me! How dare you say that my chest is flat? I’ll kill you!”
Huo Ling had always been a rebellious kid. She knew she was still young and was aware that her puberty seemed a little slower than her peers, but this was something beyond her control.
She could endure her own flaws, but she could not tolerate others commenting about her flaws. Yun Shen’s expression triggered her anger, and she felt her blood boiling.
Since childhood, her brother was the only person who could judge her, and no one else dared to do so.
“You perverted old man! Let go of me if you have the guts! I will fight you!”
Huo Ling struggled a few times, but to her surprise, Yun Shen had slick moves too. She could not find a way to escape from his grip.
Huo Ling raised her head in annoyance and glared at Yun Shen. Yun Shen clicked his tongue again with a smile reflected in his eyes. With a condescending gaze, he stared into Huo Ling’s devious eyes. It was his first time noticing that a girl’s eyes could actually look innocent with a few traces of mischief hidden among her innocence.
Innocent and mischief were two different concepts, yet they blended so perfectly in her expression.
“Darling, be gentle!” Huo Ling blinked innocently at Yun Shen. “It’s painful. You’re breaking my wrist here!” She even pouted and looked as pitiful as she could.
Yun Shen found it amusing to interact with Huo Ling. Her bright and innocent eyes were clearly filled with disdain and disgust toward him, yet she could still put up a pitiful act before him. He was somewhat reminded of a puppy trying to get its owner’s attention.
Yun Shen’s gaze softened at that thought, and he loosened his grip a little around Huo Ling’s wrist without letting her go.
Reaching out his other hand, he ruffled Huo Ling’s hair and said, “Good girl.”
Huo Ling shuddered in disgust upon hearing that. She shoved Yun Shen away and staggered.
With her cheeks reddened, she shot a glare at Yun Shen. Her cheeks were puffed, yet it made her look even more adorable. It was a rather alluring sight to Yun Shen.
Unaware of Yun Shen’s thoughts, Huo Ling was flustered at how her heartbeat quickened a little when Yun Shen talked to her and ruffled her hair while looking so gentle.
She clutched her chest, hiding the rapid heartbeat inside, as she shot another glare at Yun Shen. “Pervert! Must I remind you that I’m a minor?”
Yun Shen chuckled at that. “Young lady, is there a misunderstanding here?” He narrowed his eyes and asked, “Do you know where Ms. Shen’s ward is?”
Ms. Shen? ”Are you here to visit Qianan?” Huo Ling then got reminded about the time when Shen Qianan was sent to the hospital, covered in injuries. The person who sent her to the hospital seemed to be Yun Shen.
“Why are you asking for Qianan? Do you know her?” Huo Ling grew wary of Yun Shen as if she believed he was the one causing Shen Qianan’s injuries. Yun Shen was entertained by her reaction. “I am the one who saved Ms. Shen. Can’t I drop by to see how she’s doing?”
Huo Ling raised her chin. “Sure. You can do that. Let me bring you there.”
Yun Shen chuckled in silence. He rubbed his chin and followed behind Huo Ling.
In the ward not too far away from them, Fu Chengyan, Li Heng, and the others were watching them through the surveillance camera. Fu Chengyan suddenly felt his temple throb at that sight. He rubbed his temples, whereas Su Shaoqing chuckled. “Why do I sense something budding from this? If not mistaken, the last person who got Third Master Yun so invested was Nuan, am I right?”
As soon as Su Shaoqing said that, he immediately received a deathly glare from a certain someone.
“Come on. It was just a joke! I’m kidding!”
