Chapter 525 Shi Nuan Was Kidnapped
Despite being in a meeting, Fu Chengyan instantly answered his phone as soon as he heard the ringtone that was specially designated for Shi Nuan. He spoke on the phone multiple times but did not hear his wife say anything in response. All he could vaguely make out was the voice of Shi Nuan, who seemed to be talking to someone on the other end of the call.
Fu Chengyan immediately lifted his hand to stop his subordinate from continuing his report. In particular, when he heard Shi Nuan call out Shi Wei’s name on the phone, he abruptly got up and declared the dismissal of the meeting. As Fu Chengyan frantically walked out of the conference room, Zhou Zheng, who had been focused on jotting down minutes of the meeting, got up at once as well. “Mr. Fu!”
“Quickly track my wife’s location. Contact Jiang Hu and see where he is now!”
The man’s expression was extremely solemn as he hastily walked toward the elevator. His hands clutched his phone tightly, and his face was as dark as the night.
Realizing the severity of the situation, Zhou Zheng instantly dialed Jiang Hu’s number. Before the elevator doors shut, he hurriedly followed after Fu Chengyan and reported, “Mr. Fu, Jiang Hu says they’re at the hospital!”
The hospital?
A sharp glint flashed across Fu Chengyan’s eyes, which were as black as ink. He clenched his fists tightly as he listened to the intermittent voices of Shi Nuan and Shi Wei through the phone. After some time, Fu Chengyan heard Shi Nuan utter an incomplete sentence before her phone totally lost its signal.
“Mr. Fu…”
“We’re heading to the hospital immediately. Where’s Jiang Hu?”
“Mr. Fu, Jiang Hu said that your mother accompanied Mrs. Fu to the hospital today while he and the others waited outside, so—”
“Useless!” Fu Chengyan strode out of the elevator and got into the car directly.
Meanwhile, Jiang Hu found out how serious the situation was the moment he received Zhou Zheng’s call. Thus, he contacted Su Shaoqing for the lockdown of the hospital.
Song Zhenyan could not help but feel somewhat worried after having waited for so long for Shi Nuan. She was about to go and look for her daughter-in-law when she saw a group of people surround the hospital. The person leading the group was Jiang Hu, the bodyguard who had followed her and Shi Nuan to the hospital.
“Jiang Hu, what happened?” Song Zhenyan walked over and saw Jiang Hu issuing a command for his men to surround the hospital. She instantly sensed that something was amiss. “Jiang Hu, where’s Nuan?”
“Madam,” greeted Jiang Hu courteously upon seeing Song Zhenyan. “We’re looking for her as well. Weren’t you with Mrs. Fu?”
“Nuan said she wanted to go to the restroom, so she asked me to wait for her.”
Before Song Zhenyan could continue, Jiang Hu frantically led some people to the restroom.
“Mr. Jiang, there’s someone here!” Jiang Hu’s subordinate shouted as he stood at the entrance of the female restroom. Jiang Hu immediately walked over, but surprise flashed across his face when he saw the woman lying on the floor.
“Mr. Fu, we found someone, but… it’s Shi Wei!”
Fu Chengyan’s expression turned stern, and he stepped hard on the gas pedal.
The hospital was in complete lockdown; no one could get out without Fu Chengyan’s orders. Su Shaoqing hurriedly came over when he heard what had happened. He was momentarily stunned when he saw Shi Wei, who lay on the ground. Then, he turned to Jiang Hu and inquired, “Where’s Shi Nuan?”
The latter felt uncomfortable from head to toe under Su Shaoqing’s knife-like gaze. “Mr. Su, I’m sorry!” He had not managed to watch over Shi Nuan.
However, the look in Su Shaoqing’s eyes turned frosty as ice. “You’re sorry? What happened? Don’t tell me that you guys could not even keep an eye on one person!”
“I…”
By the time Fu Chengyan rushed to the hospital, there were already lots of people encircling the building. They were all basically Su Shaoqing’s men. With a terrifyingly grim face, Fu Chengyan went past them and headed up to the restroom on the second floor. Following behind the man, Zhou Zheng could sense his employer’s immense rage and frustration.
“Where is she?”
Fu Chengyan looked at Su Shaoqing, then at Jiang Hu. Lifting his leg, he gave Jiang Hu a kick in the chest.
The latter could not hold his stance against the blow, so he staggered a few steps back. Nevertheless, he managed to steady himself once more. “I’m asking you—where is she?”
“Mr. Fu!”
Fu Chengyan launched a kick at the bodyguard again. Unable to withstand the overwhelming force, Jiang Hu staggered a few steps backward and fell to the floor on one knee. “My apologies, Mr. Fu! I’ve let you down. I deserve to die!”
“Find her! Even if you have to flip the entire city upside down, find her!”
Fu Chengyan was like a raging lion at the moment; no one dared to approach him, fearing that they would be afflicted by his outburst.
They had seen Fu Chengyan in all sorts of demeanor, but they never had witnessed him in such a frightening state. His icy expression petrified those who laid eyes upon him. Again, he raised a leg and kicked Jiang Hu.
The latter instantly hit the wall at the back and spat out a mouthful of blood, causing the bodyguards standing behind him to glance at each other in fear.
They clenched their fists tightly, afraid that Fu Chengyan would vent his fury at them.
“Chengyan, take a look over here!” Picking up the syringe that was on the floor with his gloved hands, Su Shaoqing squinted at it and cast his gaze onto Shi Wei, who still lay unconscious on the ground.
As if just noticing Shi Wei, Fu Chengyan walked over and kicked the woman. “Is she dead?”
“No, she’s merely unconscious!” Su Shaoqing shook his head. He scrutinized the syringe for a while before knitting his brows and saying, “It’s obvious that Nuan was her target, but—”
“She didn’t get her way!” Fu Chengyan finished Su Shaoqing’s sentence. He recalled the phone call from earlier; Shi Wei was probably arguing with Shi Nuan, who smartly tried to buy some time.
The former indeed intended to harm Shi Nuan, but she did not have the chance to do so at all. At the end of the call just now, it was most likely that Shi Nuan spoke to him after having taken care of Shi Wei, but she did not expect there to be one more person coming after her.
Fu Chengyan balled his fists tightly. Doubtful that the liquid inside the syringe was a normal drug, he barked, “Take the syringe to the lab for analysis immediately! Find out what’s inside!” Narrowing his eyes, he threw Jiang Hu a glance and commanded, “Bring this woman back to Prosperous Dynasty.”
His voice was so cold and unfeeling, but it sent a shiver down everyone’s spine.
If Shi Wei had fallen into the hands of the police, perhaps she could still escape unscathed. However, now that she was in Fu Chengyan’s clutches, it was most probable that she would suffer a fate worse than death.
“Yes, Mr. Fu!” Jiang Hu got up from the floor, carried the woman on one shoulder, and left the place while leading a few other men.
Meanwhile, Su Shaoqing sized Fu Chengyan up with a tinge of amusement in his eyes. The latter’s expression was simply too interesting at the moment. “What do you think?”
Fu Chengyan cast his gaze at the doctor. “Do you think that a woman like Shi Wei could possibly take May away?”
Su Shaoqing creased his brows and asked, “So, you suspect that someone else took Nuan away? Have you locked in on a target?”
Fu Chengyan shook his head in response and uttered, “I don’t know yet, but since they’ve only taken her away, at least it means that May is still safe!” What he needed to do at the moment was recollect himself and think carefully. Who would want to kidnap Shi Nuan? Is it related to the Shi family or to me? But, at the end of the phone call just now, the man who took her away addressed her as “Mrs. Fu,” so it’s likely that their ultimate target is me.
“Chengyan?” Noticing that Fu Chengyan was exuding a murderous intent, Su Shaoqing inquired, “Have you figured out who it is?”
“Go find out what is inside this syringe and extract the surveillance footage here immediately,” said Fu Chengyan as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
There was an evident gleam of sharp ferocity in his eyes.
News about Shi Nuan going missing soon reached the Fu clan and the Su family. The latter came knocking on the former’s door, asking for an explanation from Fu Chengyan. However, Fu Chengyan was not even at home.
In the darkest corridor of the innermost part of Prosperous Dynasty, the man stood on the outside, staring at the woman lying on the ground inside the room. His eyes shone with bloodlust.
Jiang Hu opened the door and reported, “Mr. Fu, she’s already awake. Our men taught her a lesson; she’s just playing dead now!”
“Playing dead?” Fu Chengyan remarked in a cold voice. “Then, let her have a taste of living hell!” There was not a single hint of emotion in his voice. He was as calm as a millpond as he made that statement, but it made Shi Wei, who sprawled on the ground, tremble in fear.
She got up but collapsed back to the floor due to excessive fatigue. “Fu Chengyan, to bully a woman—are you even a man?”
“How dare you still spew garbage at this hour!” Jiang Hu kicked Shi Wei and pulled her by her hair forcefully. “Look closely! Mr. Fu’s name is not one that you can simply utter!”
The deathly pale woman’s cackle resonated around the dark room. Clenching her fists, she grinned sinisterly as Jiang Hu grabbed her hair. “Fu Chengyan, you must be very afraid now! Are you thinking about who could’ve kidnapped that b*tch, Shi Nuan? Haha! Too bad… Her tummy is already so big too! Too bad!”
Slap! Jiang Hu slapped Shi Wei hard across the face. “You b*tch! Looks like you won’t know your place unless we give you a good beating!”
The latter laughed and screeched, “Beat me then! Even if you beat me to death, I’ll never tell you where Shi Nuan is! Hahaha!”
“You b*tch—”
“Jiang Hu!” Fu Chengyan cast a glance at Jiang Hu and ordered, “Let go of her.”
As reluctant as he was, Jiang Hu still threw Shi Wei to the ground.
Thud! The woman landed on the floor heavily. Resisting the pain, she got up and yelled with seething hatred in her eyes, “Fu Chengyan, beat me to death if you can! Besides, you’ll never find out where Shi Nuan is for the rest of your life. Haha!”
“Is that so?” Fu Chengyan bent down, pinched Shi Wei’s chin with his hand, and eyed the streaks of blood on her face. There were multiple wounds on her body made by Jiang Hu’s whip dipped in brine. When Shi Wei moved even the slightest bit, she could feel the indescribable burning pain on her flesh.
Nevertheless, she could not show her fear, nor did she have the chance to be afraid.
Shi Wei knew that Fu Chengyan would never let her off the hook, but she was unwilling to tolerate such pain just like that. Even if I have to die, I will drag Shi Nuan along to hell with me!
“You must want to know who took Shi Nuan, that b*tch, away, right? Haha, too bad! I’m never going to tell—Ah!”
Shi Wei screamed in pain before she could finish her sentence. Fu Chengyan had taken a small army knife out of nowhere and quickly used it to cut her through her skin while she was still speaking. It took only a brief moment for him to slice a chunk of meat off her arm.
