Chapter 523 Making Up For The Shortfall
J stuffed an item into Shi Wei’s hand. She looked at J with a baffled look. “What’s this?”
“Keep it, and find the right time to meet up with Shi Nuan. It has a manual for its operation. Remember. This is the only one, and do not ever lose it!” After finishing his sentence, J passed a mini communication device to Shi Wei. “Remember. Only use this when you have to. Okay?” J reached out and grabbed Shi Wei’s chin, forcing her to look at him. “Understand?”
Shi Wei stared at J unblinkingly and blankly, as if there was something in J’s eyes that had caught her attention.
She gulped subconsciously and nodded. “I got it!”
After hearing that, J smiled as he nodded. “By the way. I don’t think it’s a good time for you to go out now. Don’t look for Fu Xicheng again. Understand?”
J was composed as he spoke, as though he was saying something very casual. On the other hand, Shi Wei knew J was giving a warning to her. Her pupils contracted slightly as she clenched her fists. “Understand.”
I can’t believe he knows I have gone out to see Fu Xicheng.
J appeared contented after seeing her countenance and released his hand from her chin before leaving.
Consequently, Shi Wei gasped, as she had undergone a stressful moment with J. For her, J gave her a stronger oppressive feeling than Fu Chengyan and Su Shaoqing. It was probably because she did not know his identity and intention. On top of that, she did not know if J wanted to harm her.
However, there was no way back for her. Ever since Su Su died unexpectedly that night after she exited the villa where Shi Wei was hiding, Shi Wei knew she had walked down a path of no return and ended up in desperation even if she wanted to opt out.
That night, Su Su died after Shi Wei knew what the former had done back then to determine to destroy her. Shortly after that, J showed up with a deal, blinding Shi Wei with vengeance. As a result, she accepted his offer, leading to the happening in the hospital.
Shi Wei closed her eyes, knowing that she was left with no choice. However, she felt bitter, as she believed Shi Nuan was the one who had ruined her promising future and wonderful life.
Shi Nuan is a name that has haunted me like a nightmare for many years. She’s the person who has constantly outshone me. No matter how much I tried, she would be always better than me. I have no other choice, so I could only go against Shi Nuan to take everything away from her. Shi Nuan is just a child born to a b*tch. What makes her think she is more worthy than me?
Shi Wei clenched her fists before looking down at the two items J gave to her. Clutching the items in her palms, she knew that was the only chance to put Shi Nuan through hell. Otherwise, she would never get peace of mind for the rest of her life.
Shi Nuan stayed in the house most of the time after what had happened in Huancheng. Probably because of the pregnancy, she felt sleepier than ever lately. Therefore, she would not go out of the house if there was no need for her to do so.
Shi Nuan studied the data and report Zhou Zheng bought from Huancheng. Although Shengyuan Group had taken over Huancheng, Fu Chengyan assigned Zhou Zheng to take care of the new company because he was too busy.
In truth, Zhou Zheng already managed to work independently, so Fu Chengyan entrusted him with the company without worries. However, Zhou Zheng would still report to Fu Chengyan or Shi Nuan every other day about the condition of Huancheng.
Despite Fu Chengyan being the major shareholder of Huancheng, Shi Nuan was the one who took charge of the company.
It happened to be the day Zhou Zheng submitted the report after coming from Huancheng. “Mrs. Fu. What Mr. Fu meant is the crisis is irresolvable for the time being after what Huancheng had gone through. What we need to do is we must sort out the projects from the beginning of the year immediately. As for other problems, Shengyuan Group can only fix them with its capital,” Zhou Zheng explained as he looked at Shi Nuan.
When he saw Shi Nuan read the report attentively, he stopped reporting and stood aside to wait for her patiently.
After reading a few pages, Shi Nuan frowned slightly before looking up at Zhou Zheng. “Zhou Zheng, this… Uh. Zhou Zheng, come over and sit down.” She was too absorbed just now that she did not notice he had been standing all the while. “Take the seat!” insisted Shi Nuan.
“It’s okay, Mrs. Fu. I can stand.” Zhou Zheng smiled faintly. “Is there any problem?”
“Nothing. There is no problem at the moment. Just sit. My neck is sore when I talk to you like that,” said Shi Nuan as she pointed her neck with a smile.
Upon hearing that, Zhou Zheng came to a realization and took a stool hurriedly before sitting down. Then, he straightened his back, seeming like waiting for Shi Nuan’s order.
Shi Nuan looked up and rubbed her forehead. Feeling helpless, she shook her head before continuing to read the financial report. A moment later, she appeared doubtful. “I can’t believe Huancheng has suffered such heavy losses.”
She was surprised because Huancheng’s market value was low. However, after reading the report, Shi Nuan felt the shortfall of the capital of Huancheng was far beyond her imagination.
It was no wonder that Fu Chengyan and Shen Shixiu said it was a company that no one would be willing to take over because it was in a mess. Who knew that Shi Nuan would be the one who did it, as it was a part of her grandfather’s will.
I believe Grandfather did this because he knew Huancheng was going to go bankrupt. Could that be the reason he took this bold move? Could it be he transferred the shares to me because he knew I wouldn’t just sit back without doing anything? Did he know Yan wouldn’t let me operate the company aimlessly? Yan has intervened to resolve the crisis. Is that what Grandfather wanted? As for Shen Shixiu, he might have a plan too, and he’ll definitely help me in case Yan never steps in.
With that in mind, Shi Nuan felt a little headache and massaged the bridge of her nose. As a matter of fact, her assumption had occurred to her before. It was just that she had mixed feelings after thinking about it again. Feeling a little tired, she took a deep breath before smiling resignedly. “Zhou Zheng, tell me the truth. How much money has Shengyuan Group used to make up for the deficit?”
“Two hundred million. That’s the amount so far.” Zhou Zheng pursed his lips before continuing, “I don’t know how much more money will be rolling in.”
Shi Nuan was rendered speechless and forced a smile with a weary look. “I got it.”
“Mrs. Fu, please do not feel pressured about that. I believe Mr. Fu has his own reason to do that since he has involved himself in this. There is still hope for Huancheng. Mrs. Fu, you need to have faith in Mr. Fu!” That was the best Zhou Zheng could say after things had come to that point.
Shi Nuan nodded. “Okay. I know he will.”
She knew what Fu Chengyan was capable of. However, it meant something else for Shi Nuan when it came to the matter of Huancheng.
“Mrs. Fu, actually, Huancheng isn’t that bad yet. The big project from last year could help the company to earn a profit next year if we manage to deal with it in a proper way. It’s all about a matter of time!”
“All right.” Shi Nuan closed the report. “Thanks for your good work, Zhou Zheng. You were supposed to work for Yan.” She never expected Zhou Zheng to work for Huancheng and Shengyuan Group at the same time.
“No worries, Mrs. Fu. I’m working for Mr. Fu, so these are my jobs. I’ll get going if you have nothing else for me.”
After getting Shi Nuan’s permission, Zhou Zheng left the house right after gathering his things.
Shi Nuan massaged the bridge of her nose again, and Song Zhenyan, who was about to go downstairs, happened to see her. “Are you tired? You’re pregnant. Stop worrying about the company. Let Yan do that for you.”
After getting along for some time, Song Zhenyan and Shi Nuan had gotten closer to each other.
Song Zhenyan realized Shi Nuan, who had already been her daughter-in-law for quite some time, was not as obnoxious as she thought. On the contrary, Shi Nuan was a big help in improving the relationship between Song Zhenyan and Fu Chengyan.
Shi Nuan got up and tidied up her table when she saw Song Zhenyan. Seeing that, Song Zhenyan hurriedly came over to give her a hand. “It’s okay. Let me help you!”
“No. I can do this!” Shi Nuan stretched out her arms, but she was stopped by Song Zhenyan. The latter said, “You are carrying a baby now. Let me help you with these. Just sit down and take a rest!” After saying that, Song Zhenyan quickly tidied up the documents on the table and looked at Shi Nuan. “Yan seems busy lately.”
Shi Nuan nodded. “You’re right. There has been a lot of work at the company. Yan told me something is something strange about the stock market recently. Not only does it affects Jiang City, but it also impacts the capital and Sheen City. That’s the thing Yan has been busy on.” Shi Nuan smiled and noticed the radiant look on Song Zhenyan’s face. “By the way, Mom, where have you been? I haven’t seen you for the past few days.”
“Haha. I just went sightseeing nearby. It’s been many years since I returned to Jiang City. So, I thought of spending some time to pay a visit around here,” answered Song Zhenyan in a seemingly good mood. “Nuan, I want to say sorry for what I did to you back then!”
Upon hearing that, Shi Nuan knew what Song Zhenyan meant and hurriedly said, “It’s all over. See. I’m doing great now.”
“You’re right!” Song Zhenyan smiled. “Oh. I remember you have a pregnancy check-up today!”
After hearing Song Zhenyan’s words, Shi Nuan finally realized she indeed had an appointment that day. Frustrated, she held her forehead. “Oh, no! I was busy with the work just now and had forgotten the appointment with Dr. Yu.” Without further ado, Shi Nuan got up from the couch and continued, “Mom, you should continue with what you’re planning to do. I need to go right now!”
“Wait!” Song Zhenyan also rose to her feet. “Are you going alone?” asked Song Zhenyan as she knitted her eyebrows. “Let me go with you. Yan is busy, and you need someone to take care of you. I’m free anyway!”
As Song Zhenyan spoke, she followed Shi Nuan upstairs. The latter was about to decline Song Zhenyan because she knew Fu Chengyan would send someone to protect her. However, seeing the eager look of her mother-in-law, who had buried the hatchet with her, Shi Nuan accepted her help. “Thanks, Mom. I hope I won’t cause you any trouble.”
“What trouble you are talking about? Let’s go and pack your things now!”
